Είναι ένας παραϊατρικός κλάδος, ο οποίος ασχολείται ειδικά με τις παθήσεις των κάτω άκρων και απευθύνεται σε κάθε άνθρωπο ανεξάρτητου ηλικίας.
Το ανθρώπινο πόδι μπορεί να παρουσιάσει επιπλοκές και δυσλειτουργίες ανά πάσα στιγμή και να είναι πηγή προβλημάτων.
